Five years ago, our community came together to save our hospital and ensure it would continue to serve the Sky Valley into the future. Since then, the valley’s population has boomed and we must grow and adapt to meet our community’s healthcare needs.
As part of this initiative, our public hospital is seeking community support for a ballot measure in April. This levy lift (Prop 1) would provide our hospital with an annual increase of $4 million in funding beginning in 2020. That would be funded by an average property tax increase of 47 cents per $1,000 in assessed property value per year.
The “Approve Prop 1 – Our Public Hospital” committee was formed to run the campaign to ensure the passage of the measure. The committee is funded through the EvergreenHealth Foundation. No public money is being spent to help pass the measure.
If approved, Prop 1 would address our community’s healthcare needs through four major improvements:
- Upgraded emergency services with state-of-the-art equipment, setting the stage for an increase from a Level 4 to a Level 3 Trauma Center
- Establish 24/7 trauma services to save more lives
- Digital medical records to save you money and time
- Bring baby delivery back to our hospital
